About AppGyver

AppGyver built a no-code development platform that produced applications for the web and for mobile. Users laid out screens visually, wired up logic with visual flows, and connected apps to REST APIs and other data sources. The company was founded in 2010 and based in Helsinki.

SAP announced the acquisition of AppGyver in February 2021, when it had 18 employees, to expand SAP's no-code offering. The product became SAP Build Apps, which ran on SAP Business Technology Platform, added backends through cloud functions, and integrated with SAP systems. The free AppGyver Community Edition kept running until the end of 2023, and SAP offered a free edition of SAP Build Apps in its place.

SAP has since deprecated SAP Build Apps as a standalone product. Existing projects keep working until contracts expire, but new instances can't be provisioned after that. SAP's migration path moves web apps to SAPUI5 or React through an SAP-assisted conversion, mobile apps to the Mobile Development Kit in SAP Build, and backend data to the SAP Cloud Application Programming Model (CAP).
