Draw.io skill
Agents365-ai/drawio-skill
Draw.io skill is a free, MIT-licensed agent skill by Agents365-ai that produces editable .drawio files instead of flat pictures. It builds architecture, UML, ERD, sequence, C4 and BPMN diagrams from a description or from code, Terraform, Kubernetes, SQL and OpenAPI files, and exports PNG, SVG, PDF or JPG through the draw.io desktop CLI.

What Draw.io skill runs on your machine
- Hooks
- None named in the README.
- Bundled scripts
- Yes. A set of Python scripts in scripts/ run with python3, with diagramctl.py as the main entry point. PNG, SVG, PDF and JPG export needs the draw.io desktop CLI. Graphviz, python-pptx, terraform, docker and kubectl are optional for layout, PowerPoint export and live infrastructure reads.
- Network calls
- Yes. aiicons.py loads brand logos from the unpkg CDN at render time unless you pass --embed. A browser fallback uses diagrams.net URLs.
- API keys needed
- None.
- Tool permissions
- SKILL.md allows Bash, Read, Write and WebFetch.

What is inside Draw.io skill
| Skill or command | What it makes the agent do |
|---|---|
| drawio-skill | Creates and edits .drawio diagrams from a description or from code, infrastructure files, SQL and API schemas, then reviews, syncs and exports them. |
One skill with a large set of Python scripts. The README lists presets for ERD, UML, sequence, C4, architecture, ML, flowcharts, SysML, BPMN, network topology and swimlanes, Mermaid to .drawio conversion, and a shape search with more than 10,000 official cloud and vendor icons.
A good fit for
- Teams that need diagrams in draw.io format that people can keep editing by hand
- Engineers who want architecture or ER diagrams generated from Terraform, Kubernetes, docker-compose or SQL files
- Documentation that uses cloud provider icons and C4 or sequence diagrams
- Projects that want to re-theme or diff diagrams as the code changes
Skip it if
- Quick diagrams where Mermaid or PlantUML in a Markdown file is enough
- Machines where you cannot install the draw.io desktop CLI, which export needs
- Offline use without the --embed option, since logos load from a CDN by default
How Draw.io skill works
The skill treats a diagram as a source file. It writes an intermediate representation, generates the .drawio XML, and can sync, query, test and review the diagram later, so changes to your code or infrastructure files can update an existing diagram instead of redrawing it.
It checks its own PNG output and applies fixes, and the SKILL.md sets disable-model-invocation, so the agent runs it when you ask for a draw.io diagram. The SKILL.md says to prefer Mermaid or PlantUML when diagrams as code is enough.
