Archify
tt-a1i/archify
Turns a description or a repo into a checked, interactive HTML diagram of your system or workflow.
Archify is an MIT-licensed skill that has your agent write a typed JSON description of a diagram, then renders it as one self-contained HTML file with dark and light themes. It covers architecture, workflow, sequence, data-flow and lifecycle diagrams, and can read a repository so nodes link to source lines. Bundled validators and a browser check must pass before the file is delivered.

How to install Archify
| Agent | Command | Copy |
|---|---|---|
| Any agent | Global install. Drop -g to install for one project. | |
| Cursor | Non-interactive install. | |
| Codex | Tries the skill without installing it. |
Commands as given in the README on 2 October 2026.
What is inside Archify
| Skill | What it makes the agent do |
|---|---|
| archify | One skill that writes and validates five diagram types: architecture, workflow, sequence, data flow and lifecycle. |
The repo also has an archify-review skill under .agents/skills, which is for the project's own contributors. The install command above targets the archify skill.
What Archify runs on your machine
| Hooks | None found in the repo. |
|---|---|
| Bundled scripts | Yes. The skill runs Node scripts in its bin folder (archify.mjs and finalize.mjs among them) to validate the JSON, render the HTML and check it in a real browser. An optional preview command serves one file on a random 127.0.0.1 port. |
| Network calls | Yes, one request. Archify may GET a fixed manifest to show an optional update reminder. The README says it sends no version, agent, project data, prompts or account ID, and never installs updates. Set ARCHIFY_UPDATE_CHECK_DISABLED=1 to turn it off. Generated diagrams may link to outside sites only if you ask for that. |
| API keys needed | None. |
These are facts read from the repo, not a security rating. Read the files before you install any skill.
How much context Archify uses
| All 2 skills | 1,566 words across every SKILL.md file |
|---|---|
| Largest skill | archify, 1,351 words |
| Loaded at start | Only each skill's name and description. The full text loads when a task needs that skill. |
Word counts are measured from the repo every day. Reference files a skill loads on demand are not counted.
How Archify works
You describe a system in plain words, paste Mermaid, or ask the agent to read a repository. The agent writes the JSON source, and the finalize step runs schema, layout, route and label checks before replacing the output file, so a failed run leaves the last good diagram in place.
The output is a single HTML file with node details, path tracing, upstream and downstream highlighting, and exports to PNG, SVG, WebM and share cards. The README says you can send the file to someone and the interactions go with it. For repository diagrams, nodes can open source files and line ranges pinned to a commit.
A good fit for
- Engineers who need an architecture or sequence diagram that stays editable as JSON
- Reviewing a pull request with a Before, Delta and After comparison of an architecture
- Teams that want to share a diagram as one HTML file with no viewer to install
- Converting Mermaid flowcharts, sequence diagrams and state diagrams into a more readable form
Skip it if
- Freeform drawing, since the README says it is not a general-purpose drawing editor
- Environments without Node.js, since validation and rendering run through Node scripts
- Machines that must make no outbound requests unless the update check is turned off

Questions about Archify
Does Archify need a repository?
No. You can start from a plain-language description. For a real codebase you ask the agent to read the repo, and it adds source references to the nodes.
Which diagram types does it make?
Architecture, workflow, sequence, data flow and lifecycle. It can also convert Mermaid flowchart, sequenceDiagram and stateDiagram input.
Is it free?
Yes. It is MIT licensed. The README lists sponsors, and none of them is required to use it.
Does it send my project data anywhere?
The only network call named is an optional update reminder, which the README says carries no version, agent, project data or prompts. You can disable it with ARCHIFY_UPDATE_CHECK_DISABLED=1.
What do I get back?
One self-contained HTML file you can open in a browser and send to others, plus the JSON source the agent keeps for later edits.
