When LangGraph is not a good fit

LangGraph is an MIT-licensed orchestration framework for building, managing and deploying long-running, stateful agents. It is made by LangChain Inc, the company behind LangChain, and provides durable execution, human-in-the-loop controls and memory. The framework is free; deployment is priced through LangSmith, whose Plus plan costs $39 per seat a month.

It is a weaker choice for:

  • Quick prototypes where a higher-level framework needs less code
  • Fixed monthly costs for hosted deployment: usage is metered in LSUs
  • Teams that do not want to learn graph and state concepts first
