A good fit for

  • Adding login and authentication to an app without building an identity system from scratch
  • B2B products that need per-customer organizations and single sign-on
  • Teams that want prebuilt SDKs across many languages and frameworks
  • Apps that need social login alongside enterprise identity providers

Not a good fit for

  • Very high monthly active user counts on a budget, since paid plans price by MAU and can get expensive
  • Teams that want a self-hosted, open source identity system
  • Simple apps that only need basic email and password login without enterprise features

About Auth0

Auth0 is an identity and access management platform that developers add to applications to handle login, authentication and authorization instead of building it themselves. It offers Universal Login, social and enterprise connections, multi-factor authentication, and SDKs for many languages and frameworks.

The platform supports both consumer facing (B2C) and business facing (B2B) use cases, including organizations for multi-tenant apps, role-based access control, and Actions for adding custom logic to the login flow.

Okta acquired Auth0 in 2021. Auth0 continues to operate as a separate product line, marketed as Auth0 by Okta, alongside Okta's own workforce identity products.
