i-have-adhd
ayghri/i-have-adhd
i-have-adhd is a free, MIT-licensed agent skill by Ayoub Ghriss that changes how a coding agent writes its replies. It applies 10 rules: lead with the next action, number multi-step tasks, end with one next step, cap lists at 5 items and cut preamble, recaps and closers. It installs in Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and more than 8 other agents.

How to install i-have-adhd
| Agent | Command | Copy |
|---|---|---|
| Claude Code | Then type /i-have-adhd. | |
| Codex | Invoke it by typing $i-have-adhd. Codex does not activate it automatically. | |
| Cursor | Add -g for all projects or -a cursor -y for one agent. Then type /i-have-adhd in a new chat. | |
| Gemini CLI | The extension loads GEMINI.md, so the rules apply from the first message. git must be installed. | |
| GitHub Copilot | Add -g for all projects. |
Commands for 1 more agent
| Any agent | Paste this into your agent: Install the i-have-adhd skill/plugin from https://github.com/ayghri/i-have-adhd, refer to the repo's AGENTS.md for instructions. |

Commands as given in the README on 9 October 2026.
What i-have-adhd runs on your machine
- Hooks
- Yes. A SessionStart hook runs hooks/always-on.mjs. It adds the rules only if you create the opt-in flag file .i-have-adhd-always in your Claude config folder, and it exits without error otherwise.
- Bundled scripts
- Yes. The hook is provided as a Node script, with shell and PowerShell versions as fallbacks. The skill itself is one SKILL.md of instructions.
- Network calls
- None named in the README.
- API keys needed
- None.

What is inside i-have-adhd
| Skill or command | What it makes the agent do |
|---|---|
| i-have-adhd | Shapes every reply with 10 rules: next action first, numbered steps, one concrete next step, no tangents, restated state each turn, time estimates in minutes, visible wins, plain errors, lists capped at 5, and no preamble, recap or closer. |
Invoke it with /i-have-adhd. It stays on for the session until you say stop adhd mode or normal mode.
A good fit for
- Developers who want shorter replies that start with the action to take
- People who lose their place in long agent answers and want numbered steps
- Teams that want one consistent reply style across Claude Code, Codex and Cursor
- Anyone who wants no preamble, recaps or closing offers from the agent
Skip it if
- Tasks where you want a long, exploratory explanation, since the rules suppress tangents
- People who want the agent to apply it automatically without invoking it or opting in
- Reading detailed reasoning in the reply, because lists are capped at 5 items
How i-have-adhd works
The skill is a set of output rules for the agent. The SKILL.md sets disable-model-invocation, so it runs only when you invoke it, then applies to every reply for the rest of the session until you turn it off.
For always-on use, the README describes an opt-in flag file that the session-start hook checks, and the install guide gives a text block you can paste into a global instructions file such as GEMINI.md.
