Garden Skills
ConardLi/garden-skills
Garden Skills is a free, MIT-licensed collection of 6 Agent Skills by ConardLi. They turn an agent into a web design engineer, an article editor, a presentation builder, a motion-graphics maker, an image prompt writer and a local knowledge-base searcher. Each skill is a step-by-step workflow that pauses at set checkpoints so you keep control.

How to install Garden Skills
| Agent | Command | Copy |
|---|---|---|
| Any agent | The second line installs one skill. Use -a claude-code to target a specific agent. | |
| Claude Code | Six plugin packs, one per skill. Pinned .zip releases and a git submodule route are also in the README. |
Commands as given in the README on 14 October 2026.
What Garden Skills runs on your machine
- Hooks
- None found. The files with hook in the name are design assets for the presentation skill.
- Bundled scripts
- Yes. Several skills ship scripts: beautiful-article has shell and Python helpers, motion-showreel runs Playwright and ffmpeg, and web-video-presentation scaffolds a Vite project.
- Network calls
- Depends on the skill. gpt-image-2 calls an image API, the presentation skill's optional narration calls a text-to-speech provider, and the Claude Code and zip installs download from GitHub.
- API keys needed
- Only for optional features. Image generation and text-to-speech use your own provider credentials, and the README names MiniMax and OpenAI for narration.
These are facts read from the repo, not a security rating. Read the files before you install any skill.
What is inside Garden Skills
| Skill | What it makes the agent do |
|---|---|
| web-design-engineer | Builds web pages, dashboards, prototypes and HTML slide decks. Declares a design system, shows an early v0, then builds and verifies. |
| beautiful-article | Turns URLs, PDFs, DOCX, Markdown and notes into a polished article, pausing at three checkpoints. |
| web-video-presentation | Builds click-driven 16:9 presentations in Vite, React and TypeScript for screen recording, with 23 built-in themes. |
| motion-showreel | Makes a short MP4 in code, captured frame by frame with Playwright and encoded with ffmpeg. |
| gpt-image-2 | Writes and runs prompts for GPT Image 2 and OpenAI-compatible image APIs, with a prompt-only mode. |
| kb-retriever | Answers questions from a local knowledge folder of Markdown, text, PDF and Excel files, with sources. |
A good fit for
- Front-end developers who want a design-first workflow for pages and dashboards
- Writers and teams who turn source documents into shareable articles
- Creators who record narrated slide videos or short motion pieces
- People who want to ask questions of a local folder of documents
Skip it if
- Setups without Node, Playwright or ffmpeg if you want the video and motion skills
- Users who want one focused skill, since the collection spans six different jobs
- Image generation without an image API key or a host image tool, where gpt-image-2 only advises on prompts
How Garden Skills works
Each skill is built around checkpoints. beautiful-article stops at three points to confirm article type, theme, layout and cover. web-video-presentation stops for script, theme and outline before it builds anything, and narration audio is optional after that.
gpt-image-2 works in three modes: local generation, delegation to the host agent's own image tool, or advisor mode that only writes the prompt. It checks which mode applies before it starts.

How much context Garden Skills uses
| All 6 skills | 13,456 words across every SKILL.md file |
|---|---|
| Largest skill | web-design-engineer, 5,332 words |
| Loaded at start | Only each skill's name and description. The full text loads when a task needs that skill. |
Word counts are measured from the repo every day. Reference files a skill loads on demand are not counted.
